Who is This Course
Aimed At?
This course is designed for individuals who enter confined spaces classified as High Risk, where full escape breathing apparatus, gas monitoring, and tripod-and-winch rescue systems are required. It builds on the Medium Risk Entry training to cover the additional equipment and procedures required for the most hazardous confined-space environments. More Than Safety Training delivers this course from our Chadderton, Oldham training centre, with on-site delivery available for group and company bookings across the UK.
Course
Aims & Objectives
On completion of the course, delegates shall be competent in:
- Understanding current legislation and Approved Codes of Practice (ACoP) for high-risk confined space entry
- Recognising high-risk confined spaces and associated hazards
- Safe use and maintenance of full escape breathing apparatus
- Setting up and operating gas monitoring equipment for high-risk atmospheres
- Setting up and operating tripod and winch rescue systems
- Organising and implementing emergency and rescue procedures for high-risk scenarios

- Definition and classification of high-risk confined spaces
- Legislation and Permit to Work Systems
- Full escape breathing apparatus: use, maintenance, and limitations
- Gas detection and monitoring equipment
- Tripod and winch set-up, operation, and rescue procedures
- Self-rescue and emergency evacuation
- Accident and emergency procedures
Achievement
A 3-year MTST certificate of training in high-risk confined space entry, including escape breathing apparatus, gas monitoring, and tripod and winch rescue systems.
