Who is This Course
This course consists of one day’s training in Emergency Care Procedures designed to give the Delegate a basic knowledge in the essential skills of care of the ill and injured person.
Aims & Objectives
To prepare any member of an organisation or company who is likely to find themselves taking charge of a first aid emergency or assisting a qualified First Aider. Although not a compulsory requirement, the Health & Safety Executive recommends this course for those who are ‘appointed’ to take charge of first aid provision where the number of employees and occupational risks are low.
Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:
The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs
The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient
The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
The ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding
The keeping of simple records following an accident at work
If successful, the delegate will receive a MTST Emergency First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for 3 years.
Delegate Experience & Renewals
No experienced required.
It is strongly recommended that delegates should attend an annual refresher Course.
Delegates must be able to kneel on the floor for the practical element
