All those personnel who use or have responsibilities for the use of personal safety harnesses in all conditions.
Course
Aims & Objectives
This course aims to provide all of the guidance that candidates will need regarding correctly using and inspecting safety harnesses. To ensure all delegates:
- Understand statutory regulations
- Can identify fall arrest equipment
- Understand the need for fall arrest equipment
- Know when to be clipped on
- Are proficient in the inspection of fall arrest equipment
- Understand the impact of harnesses on the working method

Content
- Health and safety laws and regulations
- Working at height regulations
- Different harness types and how to wear them
- Different types of lanyards and uses
- Inspection by whom and when
- Safe use
- Practical session
- Rescue plan
- Donning doffing
- Practical session on identifying defective harnesses
- Identifying equipment needed to perform tasks safely
Achievement
A 5-year IPAF card accessed through the iPAL app, an electronic certificate, guide book and log book
Delegate Experience & Renewals
A working knowledge of harness usage would be an advantage but is not essential.
PPE Required
Suitable clothing for the practical session & full body harness.
Participants can purchase a lite full body harness directly from us for enhanced safety and convenience during the course.
