Aimed At?
Personnel who are involved in use of ladders, step ladders and podium steps for access and work of short duration. Typically this would include maintenance operatives and fitters, systems fitters, electricians and installation workers.

Aims & Objectives
Attendees should complete the service with an understanding of the current legislation relating to employer and employees responsibilities and the safe use and pre-use check of ladders and step ladders.

Current legislation relating to working at height, in particular, the use of ladders
- How to inspect ladders
- Identify faults
- Record faults
- How to erect a ladder
- How to secure a ladder
Achievement
A 3 year MTST certificate of training the safe use and pre use checks of ladders and step ladders. A restricted certification can be issued for novice workers
Delegate Experience & Renewals
A working knowledge of ladders would be an advantage but is not essential. All delegates MUST be physically fit and able to carry out any practical during the service.
PPE Required
Protective footwear, suitable head protection, suitable clothing and gloves for the practical session.
