Aims & Objectives
This course aims to equip delegates with the knowledge and confidence to carry out formal inspections of harnesses and lanyards safely and in accordance with UK regulations.
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand legal requirements for inspection and record keeping
- Identify defects, wear, and damage in equipment
- Determine when equipment should be removed from service
- Carry out and document thorough inspections correctly

Achievement
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a 3-year MTST certificate of training in the Thorough Inspection of Harnesses and Lanyards, confirming their competence.
This supports compliance with workplace safety regulations and demonstrates formal training in equipment inspection.
Delegate Experience & Renewals
No prior experience is required, although a basic understanding of working at height equipment is beneficial.
Refresher training is recommended periodically to ensure knowledge remains up to date and aligned with current regulations and best practices.
All delegates MUST be physically fit and able to perform practical handling of harnesses during the service.
PPE Required
Delegates should wear appropriate workwear, including gloves and safety footwear.
All necessary training equipment and PPE will be provided for the course.
