Who is This Course
Aimed At?
Employees who, as part of their operational duties, are required to install compliant edge protection panels and post in accordance with BS EN 13374 class A, following manufacturers’ instructions and safe systems of work.

Aims & Objectives
Aims of the course:
- To provide information, instruction and training on the hazards and risks when installing and removing Edge protection.
- To provide the understanding and ability to apply control measures, including using and selecting PPE for fall protection and prevention.
- Provide information on the current standards and UK legislation.
- To understand the selection of edge protection systems
- Possess the knowledge to install, remove, adjust and inspect edge protection systems in compliance with current standards
Objectives:
- Understand the relevant legislation and current industry standards and guidance
- Understand the requirements of BS EN 13374: 2013 A1 2018
- Understand the hazards associated with working at height and the need for edge protection
- Be aware of the proprietary edge protection systems available and the suppliers
- Understand the suitability of different proprietary edge protection systems dependent upon the job
- Have a knowledge of components and their safe use
- Understand the dangers associated with mixing components
- Be able to identify dangerous component selection and use
- Have an awareness of risks on site and at height
- Understand the need for inspection of edge protection systems

Delegate Experience & Renewals
Attendees must also be trained in safe working at heights, including the use of harnesses in restraint at leading edges—THIS IS A SEPARATE COURSE. Attendees must have all the relevant PPE, and where noise, respirable dust, and eye injury hazards exist, the RPE, hearing protection, and eye protection must be used.
